New Years Eve

happy new years everyone!
I had a great night in the company of this beautiful young lady, lots of silly hats and a silly amount of alcohol. Very normal New Years, I guess.
The funny part about being in Greenland at new years eve, is that it is cellebrated not once, but twice. Some people say even multiple times.
The reason for this is that Greenland is full of minorities, mainly from Denmark, but also from the Farao Islands, Iceland and even Thailand. So a tradition has been developed of coloring the sky with fireworks when the clock hits twelve in people's respective countries.
And the greenlanders love their fireworks dearly! I've never seen as much firework in my whole life. I was so spellbound (and maybe also a bit drunk) that I forgot to take a decent picture. But i tell you, it was beautiful!

After the clock hit twelve, I was out walking in the snow, companied by Naasoq and a bottle of Cuba Caramel. Aah, sweet sweet memories from highschool ;)

We were going down town to celebrate on a bar, but no-one there. Seriously, the bar was empty. Why is that, you ask? Because of Greenland's party-culture. Here, drinks are so expensive, that you get drunk at home and run to town at two in the morning, and dance like your life depend on it, untill the bar closes at three, and then you go home and drink even more, untill you fall a sleep some random place at 8 am. And then you start all over again the next day. All the drama, dancing, scoring, drinking, sex at the toilets, and gossip that's on the schedule at a party with 200 people in one night, happens in just one hour. puh, I got all tired and chose to go home "early" (it was four in the morning before we were actually kicked out of the bar)

whale-blubber.
The first of january we all of a suden realized that we were going home tomorrow. So, hangover long gone, we ate this plate of Greenlands specialities: *ahem* from the left: dried fish called "raeklinger", whale blubber (I shit you not, blubber, my dictionary even says so) apple, and the spice in the buttom is Aromat.
It was.. Quite an experience. The reakling tasted like fish times one hundred, the whale like sweet rubber. but not before eating this, i felt like i was ready to go home.

see you later, Greenland!
PS:The smart reader has discovered that this post is in english. Despite what you might think, t is not part of some new years resolution,. sometimes you just have to try something new :)
